Good afternoon. It’s been a hard weekend, and as you all know, we have 26 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Nunavut – six new cases in Arviat and two new cases in Rankin Inlet. My thoughts are with everyone recovering and those isolating.
Today, I am confirming Nunavut’s first confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Pond Inlet. Dr. Patterson will speak to the very thorough, very prepared rapid response to COVID-19 in Nunavut, but I first want to remind Nunavummiut of something very important:
There are still no confirmed or probable cases of COVID-19 in Nunavut. Upon recommendation from the Chief Public Health Officer, schools and daycare facility closures are extended until end of day April 20.
