Cabinet mandate retreat wraps up in Igloolik

IQALUIT, Nunavut (January 19, 2018) – Premier Paul Quassa and Cabinet Ministers met this week to discuss priorities for the new government mandate of Nunavut’s fifth Legislative Assembly. The Cabinet retreat wrapped up in Igloolik on Thursday.

During the week-long retreat, Cabinet met with the Tuukkaq Elders’ Society, the Igloolik Hamlet Council, Kingulliit Productions, staff at Government of Nunavut offices, students at the elementary and high schools, and took part in a community feast on Thursday evening.

"Together, we are looking forward and beyond to envision a brighter future for Nunavut and Nunavummiut," said Premier Quassa. "In the coming weeks, we will take the ideas that came out of our retreat to the full caucus of elected Members of the Legislative Assembly, so that they can provide their input on a vision for our territory. This is a collaborative effort to ensure we all have a stake in the work needed to move our territory forward."

All members of the Legislative Assembly will meet in Pond Inlet in February to finalize the new government mandate.
