Pre-Retirement Planning Program (MS Teams)
The Pre-Retirement Planning Program is a three (3) course module designed for GN employees with a focus on how to manage work-life balance, personal finances, and pre-retirement planning.
Course 1: Work Life Balance – May 23rd, 2024 (one day)
The Work Life Balance workshop focuses on supporting you to set accurate and achievable goals and communicate better with your peers at work and family at home.
The course will cover the following areas:
- Importance of work life balance
- Increased Productivity
- Health Risks, Absenteeism, Burnout, Stress
- Offer More Employee Control
- The Three P’s
- Make a Schedule and Stick to it
Course 2: Managing Personal Finances – May 24th, 2024 (one day)
This workshop will provide participants with the tools to reduce or eliminate debt, and plan towards financial stability. Participants will discover how to cut costs, pay off debts, and live within their set budget.
The course will cover the following areas:
- Generating savings
- Reducing stress and anxiety
- Understand your income
- Determine a budget duration
- Determine expenses
- Track what’s being spent
- Short term vs long term
- Save for the future
Course 3: Retirement- Planning My Future – May 30-31, 2024 (two days)
This highly participative instructor-led 2-day course offers basic principles and practical tools to understand the government pension, achieve financial security, and understanding legal aspects.
The course will cover the following areas:
- Better understand the pension calculation, buyback of services, retirement timetable.
- Obtain a better understanding of Estate Planning; review of legal documents - Will, Power of Attorney, etc.
- Acquire comprehensive knowledge of financial issues and concepts such as tax planning, investments, insurances.

All GN employees are welcome to register, but the course will be offered based on Central Standard Time (CST) from 9:30 am-4:00 pm. Participants enrolled are expected to complete this course based on this time zone.
Applicants registering for the entire program will be prioritized. Applicants interested in the individual courses will be waitlisted. If space becomes available, waitlisted applicants will be invited to join the course closer to the respective start date.
